Day 1 for Oisin at the Luderitz Speed Challenge and he has already broke the Irish National record… haha… I have a feeling that will get broken again before hs trip has finished!

Another thing..  check his crazy camera angle for a run down the channel… pretty cool!! How did he do that?  K4 mount and 360 cam maybe?!?

 Oisín van Gelderen:

Luderitz Speed Challenge Day 1.
Wind about 25-40 knots. Was very broad at the start but grabbed the opportunity to sail and get used to the canal, get the starts worked out, and of course the stops, while the big boys were waiting for wind. They all said this was an ‘average day’, but I guess when you are used to doing 51knots over 500 its fair enough.
Later in the day it started to get real nice, and the speeds went up, and the big boys were happy. (If Im on a 5.6 its not windy here).
Anyway for me, I’m very happy. Day 1…. and a new Irish Record in the bag! getting stuck at 44.6 most of day over 500m, got one good run later in day with 46.4, peaking about 48.4, of course subject to ratification by WSSRC and checking of video by the timing guys.
Massive thanks to Farrel O’shea for the loan of his 38.5 Moo and endless sage advice, Alberto Possati for his lead, Hans Kreisel for the go on his rocket-ship custom JP… all true gentlemen.
Heres a rough edit of a run on my 38 custom, and 5.6m, to give you an idea of how it feels. Enjoy! More to come when I have time, but tomorrow looks even windier. Cannot wait !
