ReplyBen, Subscription is a good idea, I like it. But I think you need to have exclusive content, only available to those who subscribe, otherwise few will do it. How about € 5 per month?

I am not sure how well it worked out for the guys who made DisTraction. I seem to remember paying for that off vimeo. Maybe this could be another way for you monetise the features you do?! Although I guess the problem you do have is that you don’t have a budget upfront. Tricky one.
Replyben i think subscription service would work for this site. The problem most people have is that there are too many providers on the net. So if you look up guitar lessons or yoga you can get a hell of a lot of stuff for free so why pay. Your site is pretty unique and if you broaden the output to include testing etc then i think most would pay after all we seem to manage to sustain in the uk 2 windsurfing magazines so why not pay for an exclusive website for windsurfing. If its worldwide we can interact with fellow windsurfers maybe via a forum. So go for it but you have to offer more to those who pay or maybe have it pay only.

ReplyOne thing I don’t want to be is a site which content is totally driven by advertising. Where as if we could get 1000/2000 people subscribing (maybe that is impossible) we could have an amazing site and do some cool features, testing etc etc… I definitely need to work a way. But money doesn’t go far in video and travel.. that is the problem.
