Are your foot straps the right size?

Before I do any Tips and tricks videos. I just want to show you a little trick I do to test the size of my straps for wave sailing.
Now, I’m NOT saying you should all set your straps up like this… but if you check most of the top guys in the world you will see they have pretty big straps. It’s worth looking into and checking your own setup.
Disclaimer: Injuries can happen no matter how big your straps are… but you want to make it as easy as possible to get your feet in and out.

Think you make an excellent point about allowing your foot to rotate in the straps. One issue I notice with looser straps is that my foot tends to get too deep in the straps and then I struggle to get it out. Have been told that I should consider making my foot straps narrower ( based on screws) and looser. Just wanted your opinion on this. Great video and that spot looks amazing! Cheers!

It’s a difficut subject. Like i say in the video… ‘this is how i have my straps set up’ Everyones feet are different.. pads, width of footstrap etc. I going to get all the pros to show how they have their footstraps set up just so people get an idea of what is normal with the top guys. As most have their footstraps too small. The main thing is you are comfortable and you can get your feet out if you have to. Obviuosly you can still hurt yourself how ever you have your straps but the idea is to minimise the risk!

Thanks for responding. Agree with everything you are saying. Would also comment that it is important to keep your straps rounded which allows your foot to rotate vs flat which traps foot. Protect those knees, ankles, feet most importantly!! Send it!
